Home Care Instructions

Your tooth and surrounding gum tissue may be slightly tender for several days as a result of manipulation during treatment and as a consequence of the previous condition of your tooth. This tenderness is normal and is no cause for alarm. While you may drink liquids, please do not chew food on the affected tooth until your endodontic therapy is completed and your tooth is covered with a protective restoration provided by your restorative / general dentist. The temporary restoration that is placed over the root canal filling material is just that – temporary. Over time, it may abrade, wear and possibly leak which is why we urge you to have your endodontically treated tooth restored promptly (generally within 3-4 weeks). You may continue your regular dental hygiene regimen. Unless otherwise directed, no specific mouth washes or rinses should be necessary. Please take all medications as prescribed. And, please call with any questions or concerns.
